LEFT-HANDED
10% of people are allowed to celebrate today: we’re celebrating those who are left-handed! However, being left-handed hasn’t always been a joyful thing. Until the 1960s, being left-handed was seen as a disorder in Dutch schools. Children were taught to write with their right hand instead. They were punished if they did not. But can you actually change whether you’re right or left-handed? No. Research shows that there’s a distinct difference in genes and brain activity between left and right-handed people. Luckily, left-handed people do have an advantage in this right-handed world sometimes. They can benefit from their left-handedness in some sports for example!
